What Is A Rolling School Schedule?
Our school schedule is one of the many things that make MCA unique. We want to do what we can to increase student productivity, curriculum retention, and general happiness. Research has shown that a large summer break causes burn out in students and faculty. Large gaps in education also increase what is known as “summer slide.” Schools will spend the first few months of school re-teaching everything the student learned the previous year. With that in mind, we created a unique school schedule that takes the weeks of traditional summer break and splits them up throughout the year. We roughly go to school 5 week and are off of school 2 weeks. There are sometimes this increment is shorter. Please see our calendar for a detailed schedule.
What Will You Teach My Child Regarding the Bible?
We do not teach specific doctrine at MCA or Educare. What we do teach is basic Bible principles. We teach the children about stories from the Bible. We teach them what sin is, and we share with them how Jesus made a way for us to have eternal life in Heaven. You will not find denominational theology in what we teach.
Will My Older Child And My Younger Child be in the Same Class?
More than likely the answer is yes (unless you have one child in the Educare Division and one child in 1st – 12th grade). Remember, we design a Personal Learning Experience for each individual child. We believe that children should be able to move at their own speed. Because of our ability to individually work with each child, we have many age groups in the same Learning Centers. There are many advantages to our approach.
I know that you may be concerned – especially in our Educare Division – that the older children will feel like they are losing independence if they have their younger brother or sister tagging along with them. Your child’s independence will not be lost. In fact, your older child will benefit from this experience. He/She will be able to begin, even from a young age, to learn how to mentor people. Our older children in our Learning Centers help teach and model behavior for our younger children. This system allows the children to learn life skills and maturity that they would not get if they are surrounded only by children their own age. Remember, at MCA we have a team / partnership mentality. Your children are “team members” of your family at home. They are team members at their school as well. We strive to make sure your individual children have individual learning experiences.
How Do I Enroll My Child?
We make the enrollment process easy:
- Call our Director, Kelly Word, to set up an interview and tour of our facility: 1-870-460-0829
- Download the enrollment packet and Organizational Playbook from our website, so you can have the forms filled out and ready at the interview.
- Once the interview process is complete and the paperwork and fees have been turned in and approved, your child is enrolled. He/She can start immediately, provided we do not have a waiting list at the time.
- We have weekly start dates for our homeschool division.
- If you are thinking about enrollment for NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, the time to call is now. We are already accepting applications for next year, and limited spaces are available.
The enrollment process can take anywhere from 2 days to 1 week. If we have a waiting list, your child may have to wait for a spot to become available.
